An international team of researchers has found the remains of a lost continent located under Mauritius. His study, reprinted in numerous foreign publications, such as the Daily Mail, New Scientist, Science Alert, mid-week, argues that this supercontinent connected India to Madagascar more than 200 million years ago.The scientists came to this conclusion after studying zircon discovered in volcanic rocks in Mauritius which are 9 million years old.

The zircon recovered is 3 billion years old. This confirms a study published in 2013 mentioning traces of zirconia on a Mauritian beach. The team of researchers argued that this discovery is proof that a lost continent is under Mauritius. In their theses published in the scientific journal Nature Communications, Professor Lewis Ashwal of the Wits University of Johannesburg, Michaël Wiedenbeck of the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) and Trond Torsvik of the University of Oslo, , You will find rocks dating back 4 billion years, but you will not find anything similar in the oceans. “They suggest that parts of this continent, known as Mauritia, are scattered in the Indian Ocean.
